Are you an experienced HSE Professional looking for your next contract within the rapidly growing Data Centre and Critical Infrastructure sector?
We are seeking a Freelance HSE Professional to support major construction projects across Denmark. This position is ideal for candidates with experience working in Data Centres, Mission-Critical Facilities, Industrial Projects, Energy Infrastructure, or large-scale construction environments involving significant structural steel works.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and promote a proactive health, safety, and environmental culture across the project.
- Ensure compliance with local legislation, client requirements, and project HSE management systems.
- Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and behavioural safety observations.
- Review, approve, and monitor Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS).
- Oversee Permit-to-Work systems including Hot Works, Confined Space Entry, Excavation, Energisation, and Working at Height permits.
- Monitor and support structural steel erection activities, ensuring safe sequencing, stability, lifting operations, and temporary works controls.
- Verify lifting plans and supervise high-risk lifting operations involving mobile cranes, tower cranes, MEWPs, telehandlers, and specialist lifting equipment.
- Lead investigations into accidents, incidents, near misses, dangerous occurrences, and environmental events.
- Produce detailed incident reports and drive corrective and preventative actions through to completion.
- Facilitate daily safety briefings, toolbox talks, safety stand-downs, and induction programmes.
- Conduct contractor and subcontractor HSE evaluations and performance reviews.
- Monitor workforce compliance relating to PPE, permits, training, certifications, and site rules.
- Support Construction Management teams in planning and executing high-risk activities safely.
- Participate in design reviews and constructability discussions to eliminate hazards before work begins.
- Monitor work at height activities, scaffold inspections, edge protection, rescue plans, and fall arrest systems.
- Review excavation, temporary works, and underground services protection controls.
- Ensure emergency response and incident management plans are maintained, communicated, and tested.
- Maintain accurate HSE documentation, reports, statistics, leading indicators, and KPI tracking.
- Attend client, contractor, and project coordination meetings as the HSE representative.
- Conduct environmental inspections covering waste management, pollution prevention, spill response, noise, dust, and sustainability requirements.
- Drive close-out of observations, non-conformances, audits, and corrective actions.
- Support commissioning and energisation activities ensuring all life-safety and permit controls are properly implemented.
- Provide HSE mentorship and guidance to supervisors, engineers, subcontractors, and project leadership teams.
Required Experience
✅ Experience on Data Centre, Critical Infrastructure, Industrial, Energy, Pharmaceutical, or Mission-Critical Projects
✅ Proven construction HSE experience with structural steel erection and heavy lifting operations
✅ Strong understanding of permit-to-work systems and high-risk activity management
✅ Experience conducting investigations, audits, inspections, and contractor management
✅ Ability to engage effectively with site teams, management, subcontractors, and clients
✅ Fluent English required. Danish language skills are advantageous
Preferred Qualifications
- NEBOSH Construction Certificate or NEBOSH Diploma
- NVQ Level 5/6 Occupational Health & Safety (or equivalent)
- IOSH Managing Safely / GradIOSH / CMIOSH
- Relevant Working at Height, Temporary Works, and Incident Investigation certifications
- Experience on Hyperscale Data Centre projects is highly desirable
