We're delighted to be working with a leading contractor in the highways and infrastructure sector to find an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their team in Luton.

This is a key commercial role, responsible for managing costs, maximising recovery, and maintaining strong relationships with the local authority client and the supply chain.

Key Responsibilities

Commercial & Cost Management:

Lead commercial activity on allocated projects, ensuring accurate forecasting, cost/value reporting, and cashflow managementMaintain robust records of site activities, variations, valuations, risk, and opportunitiesPrepare monthly CVRs, forecasts, accruals, liabilities, and revenue reportsEnsure subcontract and main contract payments are processed accurately and on timeProtect the business's commercial interests through proactive contract administration

Procurement & Subcontract Management:

Manage procurement activities, including developing procurement schedules with the Project ManagerPrepare high-quality subcontract documentation with clear scopes, responsibilities, and expectationsOversee accurate measurement of works, manage subcontract instructions, variations, contra-charges, and account settlementsEnsure compliance with commercial policy and all contractual notice requirements

Client & Consultant Interface:

Maintain professional, productive relationships with clients, designers, and consultantsIssue and manage client instructions, reporting formats, valuations, and forecast updatesEnsure excellent client service, clear communication, and proper authorisation before additional works commence

About you

Experience & Qualifications:

Accredited qualification with RICS, CIOB or ICES, or relevant degree/HNDProven experience as a QS/Senior QS within highways or civil engineeringStrong working knowledge of NEC contracts and term maintenance arrangements

Purpose of the Role

The Assistant Contracts Surveyor will support the commercial team in the day-to-day administration and cost management of the Houghton Regis data centre campus. This is a developing role suited to a graduate or early-career surveyor looking to build experience on a major mission-critical construction project, working under the supervision of the Contract Surveyor and Senior Contract Surveyor.
