Our Clinent are seeking an experienced Freelance Quantity Surveyor to support the commercial management of a major electricity framework in Scotland. This role will involve working on a portfolio of infrastructure projects, ensuring robust cost control, contract compliance, and commercial delivery.
Key ResponsibilitiesManage all commercial aspects of electricity infrastructure projects across the frameworkPrepare, review, and manage cost estimates, budgets, and forecastsAdminister contracts (likely NEC forms) including variations, compensation events, and change controlCarry out valuations, interim applications, and final accountsMonitor project costs and identify risks and opportunitiesProvide accurate commercial reporting to internal stakeholdersReview subcontractor quotations, appointments, and ongoing performanceSupport procurement activities and supplier negotiationsEnsure compliance with contractual obligations and company proceduresLiaise closely with project managers, engineers, and clients to drive commercial outcomesKey RequirementsProven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within utilities or electricity infrastructure (e.g., transmission, distribution, substations, cabling)Strong working knowledge of NEC contracts (NEC3/NEC4 preferred)Experience working on framework agreements is highly desirableDemonstrable track record of delivering effective cost control and contract administrationStrong analytical, negotiation, and communication skillsAbility to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environmentQualifications & SkillsDegree-qualified (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying or Commercial ManagementMembership of RICS (or working towards) is preferableProficiency in commercial systems and MS ExcelFull UK driving licence (site visits may be required)Working ArrangementsHybrid working model - combination of home working and office presence in GlasgowOccasional travel to project sites across ScotlandContract DetailsCompetitive day rate (dependent on experience)Contract duration: Initial term with strong potential for extensionImmediate or short-notice availability preferredWhy JoinOpportunity to work on a long-term, high-value electricity frameworkFlexible hybrid working environmentCollaborative and technically strong project teamsExposure to critical national infrastructure projects

The Role
As Commercial Manager, you will oversee major work packages exceeding £100m, ensuring robust commercial governance, strong cost control, and effective contract administration. You will work closely with project leadership, commercial teams, and external stakeholders to drive value, manage risk, and support successful programme delivery.
Key Responsibilities
