Senior HSE Specialist
Mission Critical Construction Project | Denmark
Location: Denmark Contract Type: Freelance / Contract Project: Hyperscale Data Centre Development Duration: Long-Term Assignment
We are recruiting a highly experienced Senior HSE Specialist for a major hyperscale data centre construction project currently underway in Denmark.
The position will support large-scale structural steel packages and complex construction activities on a fast-track mission-critical project. The successful candidate will join an international project team responsible for delivering one of Europe's flagship digital infrastructure developments.
About the Role
This is a site-based position requiring a strong safety leader capable of influencing contractors, supervising high-risk activities, and ensuring strict compliance with project and client requirements.
You will be expected to engage directly with construction teams, subcontractors, project management, and client representatives to cultivate a proactive safety culture and maintain industry-leading performance standards.
Minimum Requirements
- 5+ years of operational HSE experience within construction.
- 3+ years of experience on Hyperscale Data Centre projects or equivalent Critical Infrastructure developments.
- Demonstrated experience supporting structural steel fabrication and erection activities.
- Experience monitoring crane operations, heavy lifting activities, and complex logistics movements.
- Experience managing multiple subcontractors simultaneously.
- Strong understanding of behavioural safety principles.
- Experience conducting incident investigations and root cause analysis.
- Familiarity with construction commissioning and turnover phases.

- Scaffold Inspection Processes
- Contractor Management Systems
- Emergency Response Planning
- HSE Auditing and Inspection Programs
- European Safety Standards and Regulations
Responsibilities
- Lead daily site safety inspections.
- Support construction management teams in achieving project safety objectives.
- Monitor compliance against client and contractor HSE standards.
- Verify competency and training compliance for site personnel.
- Facilitate safety stand-downs and awareness campaigns.
- Participate in design and constructability reviews where required.
- Review lifting plans and high-risk work documentation.
- Identify emerging risks and implement proactive mitigation measures.
- Prepare weekly and monthly HSE reports.
- Track project leading and lagging indicators.
- Support internal and external audits.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives throughout all construction phases.
Preferred Certifications
Candidates with one or more of the following will be highly regarded:
- NEBOSH Diploma
- NEBOSH Construction Certificate
- IOSH Managing Safely
- ISO 45001 Internal or Lead Auditor
- ISO 14001 Auditor
- CSCS, Safe Pass, or equivalent construction safety credentials

- Danish Nationals.
- Local candidates currently residing in Denmark.
- EU Citizens.
- EU Blue Card holders.
- Candidates immediately available or available within 4 weeks.
