HSE Lead - Data Centres & Critical Infrastructure
📍 Denmark | Freelance Contract
Are you an experienced HSE Lead with a background in Critical Infrastructure projects and a passion for driving safety excellence on complex construction sites?
We're supporting a major project in Denmark and are seeking a proactive HSE professional to join the team. While experience across Critical Infrastructure sectors is highly valuable, Data Centre project experience is strongly preferred.
Key Requirements

within:
- Data Centres (preferred)
- Critical Infrastructure
- Industrial Construction
- Energy & Power
- Pharmaceutical Facilities
- Advanced Manufacturing Projects
✅ Strong understanding of:
- Construction Health & Safety legislation
- Permit to Work systems
- RAMS reviews
- Incident Investigation
- Contractor Management
- Safety Leadership and Cultural Development
✅ Experience working with Steel Works including:
- Structural steel erection
- Steel fabrication processes
- Steel installation and mounting activities
- Heavy lifting operations
- Temporary works
- Working at Height
- Steel package management and coordination
The ideal candidate will have practical knowledge of how steel structures are fabricated, delivered, erected, and handed over on large-scale construction projects.
Responsibilities
- Lead all Health, Safety and Environmental activities across the project.
- Develop and maintain project HSE management systems.
- Conduct site inspections, audits, and safety observations.
- Review RAMS, method statements, and lifting plans.
- Ensure compliance with Danish regulations, client requirements, and company procedures.
- Support contractor onboarding and competency assessments.
- Investigate incidents, near misses, and safety observations.
- Deliver toolbox talks and safety initiatives.
- Promote a proactive and positive safety culture across the project.
- Interface with project leadership, construction teams, subcontractors, and client representatives.
- Monitor HSE performance through KPIs and reporting.
- Support the safe execution of steel erection, lifting, and work-at-height activities.
Preferred Qualifications
- NEBOSH Diploma, NEBOSH Construction, or equivalent.
- Recognised European Health & Safety qualification.
- Previous Data Centre project experience.
- Experience managing HSE on large-scale steel installation packages.
- Strong English communication skills (Danish is advantageous).
What We're Looking For
We're looking for a hands-on safety leader who understands both the strategic and practical aspects of delivering HSE excellence on major construction projects. Candidates with a background in Data Centres, Critical Infrastructure, Heavy Industrial, Power, or Advanced Manufacturing environments will be highly regarded.
