Job Role
A senior-level opportunity to lead the structural design of a diverse portfolio of projects, with a strong emphasis on data centers and mission critical facilities alongside healthcare, commercial, life sciences, and higher education work. You'll serve as the technical authority within the project team, directing and mentoring engineers and designers, maintaining client relationships, and contributing to business development. This is a hands-on leadership role with people management responsibilities and scope for significant influence over the structural group's long-term direction.
Requirements
- Lead structural analysis, design, documentation, and construction administration across projects of varying size and complexity
- Manage technical scope, schedule, and budgeted hours within the structural discipline; coordinate across all engineering disciplines
- Delegate tasks to project engineers and designers; monitor performance and uphold quality standards in line with firm-wide processes
- Drive QA/QC processes and conduct project reviews prior to technical authority sign-off
- Maintain strong client relationships; articulate design requirements, progress, and solutions to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Participate in project meetings, workshops, and site observations as required
- Support business development and marketing activity in collaboration with the Practice Leader
- Conduct performance reviews and quarterly check-ins for direct reports; incorporate career development objectives into team assignments
- Mentor junior engineers across technical, project management, and interpersonal skills
- Actively engage with the professional community through conferences, seminars, and publications
Qualifications
- Accredited engineering degree (or equivalent experience)
- Minimum 10 years of relevant industry experience
- Registered Structural Engineer (SE) licence or equivalent professional certification required
- Proficiency in Revit and CAD; strong technical and analytical capability across structural systems
- Proven ability to lead multi-disciplinary project teams and manage competing priorities
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience presenting to clients and internal stakeholders
- Solutions-focused, collaborative, and detail-oriented with the ability to independently resolve complex structural challenges
