Senior MEP Quantity Surveyor

We are working with our client who is a Tier 1 main contractor, with a strong reputation in data centres, life sciences, commercial, and infrastructure projects across Ireland, the UK, and Europe, to recruit a Senior Quantity Surveyor - M&E/MEP.

This role sits on one of the largest data centre developments in the UK - a c.£10 billion hyperscale campus in Blyth, delivering up to 10 data centre buildings across a 100-hectare site.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare monthly, interim, and final valuations, applications for payment, reconciliations of valuations and costs, and amounts for M&E contracts, sub-contractors, specialists, and suppliersProvide necessary information to enable accurate and regular review of cash flow and contract positions on M&E packagesWork with the Procurement Manager to place M&E sub-contracts on work under their control, where requiredConduct detailed examination of M&E contract documents and highlight any anomaliesPrepare, submit, and agree interim and final valuation dates with client representativesPrepare all necessary take-offs and measure M&E works in advance of requirements from the Estimating, Procurement, and Planning departmentsPrepare contract final accounts for each completed section of the M&E works, including all adjustments, and submit and agree with client representativesCarefully record all details involving contractual delaysManage and coach contract surveyors, assistant surveyors, and junior surveyors reporting to them

Requirements

Experience with a main contractor or M&E contractor ideallyPrevious project experience in M&E/MEP on major construction, data centre, or industrial projects - mission-critical or hyperscale data centre experience highly advantageousChartered or working towards chartership (RICS/SCSI or equivalent)Excellent interpersonal and communication skillsExcellent IT skillsGood understanding of NEC forms of contracting

We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor (MEP/CSA) to join our clients project team in Blyth, United Kingdom. This role will be responsible for managing the commercial aspects of one of Europe's largest Data Centre projects reporting into a Commercial Manager, ensuring costs are controlled, value is maximised, and financial delivery is achieved in line with project objectives.

Requirements

* Manage all commercial and contractual aspects of the project lifecycle

* Prepare, review, and manage project budgets, forecasts, and cost reports

* Lead the procurement process, including subcontractor selection, tendering, and contract negotiations

* Manage subcontractor accounts, including valuations, variations, and final accounts

* Monitor project costs and identify risks and opportunities to ensure financial control

* Support and collaborate with Project Managers, Package Managers, and site teams on cost management

* Ensure all contractual documentation is maintained and up to date

* Attend Commercial Meetings, Site Meetings, and Project Reviews

* Evaluate and process change orders and manage variations in line with contract requirements

* Prepare and submit interim valuations, applications for payment, and final accounts

* Provide commercial advice and support to the wider project team

* Ensure compliance with contractual terms, conditions, and company procedures

* Assist in the preparation of financial reports for senior management

* Proactively identify and resolve commercial and contractual issues

Skills & Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or similar discipline

* Minimum 8+ years' experience in a Quantity Surveying role, preferably within construction

* Strong experience managing commercial aspects of large-scale construction projects

* Proven track record in cost control, procurement, and contract administration

* Excellent negotiation, analytical, and financial management skills

* Strong knowledge of construction contracts and commercial practices

* Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary project teams

* High level of attention to detail and organisational skills

* Data centre, industrial, or mission-critical project experience is advantageous

Our client, a leading contractor, is currently searching for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their team to work on a major infrastructure project. You will be responsible for the MEP fit out on the shafts and portal buildings.

Responsibilities

Ensure that a safety first and foremost message is visible and alive through all activities on the project.Ensure the use of, and compliance to, legal and company policies and processes in line with contractual obligations.Understand project contract terms, manage risks and opportunities, ensuring they are commercially mitigated or enhanced. Identify any changes in line with contractual obligations.Maintain all records in order to maximise contractual entitlements.Communicate with the operational teams on risk and contract terms and conditions and have a continual understanding of project status.Prepare, submit applications, and secure recovery of payment, with substantiation of compensation or variations.With support, manage sub-contract accounts through to final account settlement.Monitor and control progress with the operational team, providing accurate internal reporting.Ensure availability of all project reports, applications, certificates, payments, timeliness and quality of delivery, and tender allowances.With support, negotiate to settle the project account with the client.

Requirements

Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor with an M&E background.An excelent understanding of NEC3/4 contracts is neededA degree/HNC level qualification and/or significant experience.Experience of change and subcontract management.
