We are working with leading highways service provider is looking for an experienced Planner to support the successful delivery of its maintenance and improvement programmes across the Slough region. This role is central to ensuring works are well‑structured, efficiently sequenced and delivered to agreed timescales.
The Role
You will be responsible for building, maintaining and monitoring project programmes across design, procurement, construction and handover stages. Using your understanding of construction methodology and outputs, you'll challenge assumptions, refine logic and ensure all activities are accurately represented. You'll also support change management, progress reporting and stakeholder coordination.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and maintain detailed project programmes, updating them throughout the project lifecycleWork with delivery teams to plan methodology, sequencing and key milestonesIdentify critical path activities and highlight risks to programme deliveryProduce short‑term lookahead schedules to support weekly planningAssess the impact of changes and compensation events on programme timelinesPrepare and present programme updates to internal teams and clientsCoordinate with subcontractors to integrate their schedules into the master programmeEnsure all programme documentation is stored, updated and issued correctlyProduce "what‑if" scenarios to explore alternative delivery strategiesSupport reporting requirements, ensuring progress data is accurate and timelyLiaise with local authorities and third parties to support programme coordinationContribute to the development of planning processes and production outputsAbout You

Working closely with Project Managers and delivery teams, you'll develop and maintain robust construction programmes, analyse critical paths, manage change under NEC contracts, and identify opportunities to improve delivery performance. Your expertise will help shape project strategy, challenge assumptions, and drive successful outcomes.

We are seeking a Project Planner to join our client's team on a Highways Maintenance scheme office on a freelance basis on a long term contract based out of their Slough project office.
Responsibilities:
Creating weekly reports and 'look ahead' forecasts.
Submit NEC-compliant programmes for acceptance
Control, analysis, maintain and recovery-plan activities, through all stages of the Project Life Cycle.
Plan and schedule major infrastructure, new build, and refurbishment projects
Requirements:
Proven experience in project planning/scheduling on highways maintenance projects
Extensive experience using in planning software such as Primavera P6, Microsoft Project and Asta Powerproject
Previous working experience for Tier One/ Two Civil Engineering firms is highly desirable
