Senior Electrical Engineer - Mission Critical Data Centers

Client

A full-service, integrated design and construction firm operating across North America, with a strong track record in mission critical, industrial, and life sciences projects. The firm operates a dedicated architecture, engineering, and design practice embedded within a wider development and construction group, enabling a fully integrated design-build delivery model. They are recognised as a top-tier data center contractor and design-build firm, known for fast-track delivery of technically complex, high-profile projects.

Job Role

A senior-level opportunity to lead the electrical design of mission critical facilities including data centers and advanced manufacturing environments. You'll serve as the technical authority on power distribution, emergency systems, grounding, and redundancy strategies essential for 24/7 operations, coordinating across disciplines and working closely with construction teams to ensure seamless execution. This is a hands-on leadership role within a fast-paced, design-build environment, with direct accountability for design quality, client relationships, and the mentoring of junior engineers.

Requirements

- Lead the electrical design process for mission critical projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards, codes, and client requirements

- Develop power distribution, grounding, UPS, emergency power, and redundancy strategies for data centers and other high-availability environments

- Perform short-circuit, coordination, and arc flash studies to optimise electrical system reliability and safety

- Coordinate closely with architectural, mechanical, and structural teams to integrate electrical systems into overall project design

- Work with construction teams to ensure seamless execution; provide field support and resolve technical challenges on site

- Manage client relationships, present technical solutions, and ensure alignment with operational goals

- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the continuous improvement of design standards and best practices

- Stay current with emerging technologies and trends in the mission critical industry

Qualifications

- BS in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution required

- Minimum 10 years of electrical engineering experience, with at least 3 years focused on mission critical projects (data centers, high-tech manufacturing, or similar)

- PE licence required for document sealing, with ability to obtain licensure across multiple states

- Proficiency in power system design, redundancy planning, and energy efficiency strategies for high-reliability facilities

- Expertise in power analysis software such as SKM Power*Tools, ETAP, or EasyPower

- Strong knowledge of NEC, IEEE, and NFPA 70E

- Experience in a design-build or IPD environment a plus

- Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills

They are recognised as a top-tier data center contractor and design-build firm, known for fast-track delivery of technically complex, high-profile projects.

Job Role

A mid-level electrical engineering opportunity to support the design of mission critical facilities including data centers and advanced manufacturing environments. Working alongside a Senior Electrical Engineer, you'll be responsible for producing detailed electrical designs, performing power system analyses, and coordinating across disciplines to deliver infrastructure that meets demanding uptime and redundancy requirements. The role includes active involvement in construction administration and client-facing activity in a fast-paced, design-build setting.

Requirements

- Develop electrical designs for mission critical projects under senior engineer direction, ensuring compliance with industry standards, codes, and client requirements

- Produce medium- and low-voltage power distribution, grounding, UPS, standby generator, and redundancy designs (N+1, 2N, distributed/block-redundant) for data centers and high-availability environments

- Perform short-circuit, coordination, and arc flash studies using industry-standard power analysis software

- Prepare construction documents including drawings, specifications, and calculations

- Coordinate with architectural, mechanical, structural, and EPMS teams to integrate electrical systems into overall project design

- Support construction administration including RFI responses, submittal reviews, and field observations

- Contribute to client meetings and presentations in support of the senior engineer

- Stay current with emerging technologies and trends in the mission critical industry

- 3-7 years of electrical engineering experience; mission critical, data center, or high-tech manufacturing experience preferred

- EIT required; PE licence preferred or actively in progress

- Proficiency in power system analysis software such as SKM Power*Tools, ETAP, or EasyPower; exposure to AmpCalc or CYMCAP for cable ampacity analysis a plus

- Working knowledge of medium- and low-voltage power system design, redundancy planning, and energy efficiency strategies for high-reliability facilities

- Strong knowledge of NEC, IEEE, and NFPA 70E

- Experience in a design-build or IPD environment a plus
