Overview

A leading HVAC and building services specialist is seeking an experienced Commissioning Supervisor to oversee onsite commissioning activities across a range of mechanical and HVAC projects. This role is responsible for leading commissioning teams, coordinating testing and balancing activities, ensuring compliance with project specifications and industry standards, and acting as the key onsite interface between clients, contractors, and project stakeholders.

Essential Skills & ExperienceProven experience in HVAC commissioning, Testing & Balancing (TAB), or technical site supervision (typically 3+ years)Strong knowledge of ventilation, chilled water, hot water, and mechanical services systemsExperience supervising commissioning teams on live construction projectsStrong understanding of commissioning procedures, functional testing, and system verificationAbility to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and control sequencesExcellent leadership, planning, and problem-solving skillsStrong communication skills with the ability to engage with clients, contractors, and project teamsExperience producing commissioning reports, documentation, and certification recordsProficiency with Microsoft Office and commissioning documentation toolsFull UK/EU driving licence and willingness to travelDesirable SkillsCommissioning certifications such as CxA, TAB Certification, or similar industry qualificationsExperience within cleanroom, pharmaceutical, healthcare, or critical environment projectsHealth & Safety qualifications including CSCS, Safe Pass, or equivalentExperience working on large-scale mechanical infrastructure or mission-critical projectsKey ResponsibilitiesLead and supervise onsite HVAC commissioning activities including air and hydronic Testing & Balancing (TAB)Coordinate commissioning teams, allocate workloads, and monitor progress against programme requirementsDevelop and implement commissioning plans and procedures in accordance with project specifications and industry standardsConduct functional testing, performance verification, and system validation activitiesReview HVAC drawings, specifications, and controls documentation to ensure compliance with design intentIdentify, track, and manage defects, deficiencies, and corrective actions through to resolutionPrepare and review commissioning reports, test sheets, certification records, and handover documentationMaintain and promote a strong health & safety culture across all commissioning activitiesLiaise with clients, consultants, contractors, and subcontractors to coordinate commissioning worksAttend project meetings and support commissioning planning, sequencing, and resource allocationEnsure systems are fully tested, commissioned, and ready for client handover
